Many of you know that I use my blog to teach. It’s my digital chalk board. That I’m passionate about pointing out things that most of you already know, but describing them in a way that helps you take action on it. I believe this creates a neat relationship because you now can go do something, not because I told you to, but because I helped you notice what you should do in the first place.
Here are five things I’ve learned that make you a smarter marketer (some of these are reinforcement for me but I thought they would be helpful to you):
- Understanding The Cost. The cost to win today is sweat equity. The tools are now in place for you to reach the people you need to reach, bring awareness and visibility to your product or service and do it all with minimal or no cost. The truth is you can’t have something great unless you work really hard (You’ve got sweat right?), too many people believe in the myth of “the overnight success.”
- Influence and Authority. These connections are not established through money, sponsorships, and endless streams of infographics. They only occur through authentic helpfulness, genuine personal connection and real networking, which is helping other people achieve their goals, doing it reliably and repeatedly, so that over time those same people have an interest in helping you achieve your goals.
- Increasing Sales Through Content. Research shows that blogging at least twice a week will help increase sales leads. Also, that 91% of B2B Marketers are using content marketing.
- Five Major Objectives For Most Businesses. Most businesses that are doing social media marketing usually have five major objectives: (1)Building their brand. (2) Acquiring new leads. (3) Driving traffic. (4)Closing more sales from new and existing customers.(5) Engage with audience.
- Difference Between Action and Awareness. There’s a huge difference between action and awareness. Your video could get 1 million views but how many people took action. How many contributed to your cause? How many gave you permission? How may people ordered your product? How many people voted for that candidate? Putting something in the world for awareness is useless if it doesn’t lead to taking action.
