Where The Money Goes

The game has changed and shifted. For one hundred years, business was about telling the best possible story through print, radio, outdoor media, TV, and direct mail. And that is still true the storytelling part, but where you storytell has changed.

You see in business “the money goes where the people go” and the people are congregating on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, and Pintrest. One of the key components to being in business is go where the eyes and ears of your customer are, to be heard and seen.

Today you can put in sweat equity to build attention and trust with a group of people and wherever those two things are present there will be advertisers willing to pay you. That’s the name of the game. Every brand, cause, product, or service needs the awareness of an audience to make money and you can do that today with the social tools now available.

So the question is: “Do yo have the hustle, the time, and the patience to go do that thing  that you love?”

Now that everyone has a microphone and can be heard and seen on the internet the game is no longer about whose the cheapest but who’s the most interesting.
